about
Anna Harrell, a 17 year old Mill Valley, CA musician has released an original song, Nightlight, to raise critical funds for the fight to lose no child to brain cancer. In honor of Brain Tumor Awareness Month, and the 10 year anniversary of the PNOC foundation, all profits from Night Light will benefit PNOC Foundation - a non-profit dedicated to supporting the advancements in childhood brain cancer research and clinical trials.
Singer songwriter Anna was moved to write a song in support of pediatric brain cancer research when her good friend’s family founded the PNOC foundation, after their son was diagnosed and successfully treated for brain cancer.
The PNOC Foundation’s fundraising efforts supports a bold, innovative team of the world’s leading children’s hospitals, researchers, scientists and physicians uniquely collaborating to advance treatments and breakthroughs for pediatric brain cancer, the deadliest childhood cancer (PNOC).
The PNOC Foundation's mission is to urgently raise money and awareness to fuel this critical work because these kids don’t have time. What makes PNOC unique is the speed at which the latest discoveries in biology and research are translated into cutting edge clinical trials and personalized treatments. In the past ten years, PNOC has convened 250+ pediatric brain tumor specialists, started 30 clinical trials, enrolled over 750 patients, and funded the research and development of 40 research manuscripts.
“Anna has a keen ability to find the beauty in small things - expanding upon the simple things in life,” said Jim Greer, producer of the song “Nightlight” and a parent who lost a child to cancer. “Anna used the metaphor of her own inner child and her own impressions of childhood centered on what is many children's first little security beacon, the ever-present nightlight. The song is a perfect homage to childhood - for healthy children - children with cancer - for all children.”
“We are so honored that Anna has lended her talents to our efforts to raise awareness for pediatric brain cancer research,” said Bruce Campbell, the co-founder of the PNOC Foundation.“47,000 years of life are lost each year to pediatric brain cancer. After our son was diagnosed with a deadly form of brain cancer in 2010, we felt it was our calling to create a foundation to support one of the leading pediatric consortium of doctors and researchers in the world to one day find cures and not lose another child to brain cancer. Without the generous support of our donors and supporters, the research of the PNOC consortium of doctors would not be possible.”
We are grateful to Legendary Marin music store, Bananas at Large, who has partnered with PNOC Foundation on this effort and will be promoting the song to its followers and encouraging customers to make donations.
lyrics
Nightlight
Mmm hmm
Mmm hmm
Did you know in the garden
A castle grows
Did you know in the dark lives
A scary ghost
We’re playing house
We drive a fast car
Entire worlds
There in backyard
Hmm hmm
Hmm hmm
Watch me count on my fingers
From one to ten
Let me draw you a picture
Of flowers then
I wanna run
I wanna fly kites
Under the sun
You watch me take flight
When I sleep leave on the nightlight
You can’t fight what you can’t fight
You can’t stop the time
So hold this sweet this pure this golden
The wisest words I spoke came
From that child of mine
Mmm
See the treasure in pennies
You hold it close
Like a stamp on your memory
Never gets old
As I am learning
Starting to explore
Just take it in
Stay at the front door
When I sleep leave on the nightlight
You can’t fight what you can’t fight
You can’t stop the time
So hold this sweet this pure this golden
The wisest words I spoke came
From that child of mine, mine
From that child of mine, mine
Hmm hmm
Hmm hmm
When I sleep leave on the nightlight
Can’t fight what you can’t fight
You can’t stop the time
So hold this sweet this pure this golden
The wisest words I spoke came
From that child of mine, mine
From that child of mine, mine
